New Skis !!! (or Kit fest’ part 1)

After trying some Volkl Supersport 4*’s on the Warren Smith Ski Academy course a couple of weeks back I decided to buy a pair. I’d wanted a pair of skis primarily for piste use for a while but when I’d been testing skis back in May I ignored the advice of the guy in Precision and did not try the Volkls at all. The main purpose of these new skis is to complement the Zag Big 84’s I have. In the end I decided to order the 5*’s, they’re supposed to be a bit stiffer than the 4*’s I’d tried.
As something of a departure for me I decided to order them over the Internet, looking at Ebay I found a retailer in Germany doing a good price, much cheaper than I seemed to be able to find here in Switzerland. The retailer was Sport Express in Germany, service seems pretty good, I needed to tell them my boot length and the DIN I needed them at and they arrived in a couple of days. Note, from the UK I’m not too sure how you pay, over here we all have on-line banking that lets us do ad-hoc transfers using IBAN’s etc..
Obviously I was rather looking forward to trying them out so I was more than a little disappointed to hear from the lift company over at Les Diablerets (aka. Glacier 3000) that they would miss the opening on October 9th, they plan to open for October 16th. I hope that’s true, I’d like to give these skis a go.
