The thaw and snow drought continues. As you see on the photograph snow cover’s getting pretty thin now with plenty of rocks and stones showing through.
We just popped over to Morillon to pick up the kit we’d left there as we’re intending to get out nearer home over the next couple of weeks.

Snow conditions are not quite ideal, the limited snowfall of Christmas is getting very thin indeed. I went over to Morillon with a couple of guys from work who were visiting Switzerland on business. It was a little disappointing that the links were closed on Saturday but they were open fully on Sunday so we were able to do a tour of the area.
There was some high spirits round the area, about a dozen people were on blades wearing clown suits. This obviously aids identification and confirms what I’ve suspected for some time anyway. You can see one of them in the foreground of the photo. You can also see the brass group that turned up at lunch, they were playing stuff like Stand By Me and Dancing Queen at high speed and left… bizarre…

2nd January 2005
Snow reports suggested it was all going to be a bit hit or miss this Christmas with only moderate falls of snow arriving pretty late. Fortunately with Christmas Day falling on a Saturday this year we got a few days skiing in before the masses arrived for their Christmas break.
The skiing was really quite good although from the links to Flaine didn’t open fully until the 27th December, in fact skiing over to Flaine showed why. There’s barely been sufficient snowfall to cover some of the fissures in the hillside over there and even at the top the snow level was too low to open this lift :
However, we did have a little more snow and by the 28th it was looking like this:
Which, if nothing else looks a lot better.
