2005 12 03 - Gstaad - Saanen

In addition to the lifts they’d opened last week in the Gstaad area this week the Eggli hill was opened. It’s equipped with snow cannons and they’ve been blowing snow for some time now. We’ve had a few moderate falls of snow through the week including last night, in fact we passed the snow plough clearing the autoroute on the way out.
It was actually difficult to park at the Rüebeldorf, it’s a tiny car park and only hold 20 or 30 cars which gives an idea how busy it was 
The weather was pretty variable, some patches of sunlight but it’s been snowing on and off all day really. We’d a loose arrangement to meet Jay another Swiss based blogger (see his great blog - Ripzalot) but snow falls and him leaving home without snow chains made hopping over the Col du Pillon impractible for today. Looking at his writeup for today I think we got the better day really
Along with any other weather that leaves snow on the ground I particularly like these days where the cloud breaks out and you suddenly get clear views.
