Even Gstaad gets Christmas crowds
When we arrived at Saanenmöser this morning there was a huge queue for the lift. But, there’s no point being a local if you don’t know how to avoid the crowds. You’re pretty much stuck with riding the the first lift to the top of the Saanerslochgrat but from there it’s easy enough to avoid the crowds. In fact, after one run we were on a deserted piste on our own.

The forecast today was for cold and clear in the morning with cloud moving in after lunch which is just how it turned out. Also on schedule it’s started to snow and it’s forecast to be a significant fall. More snow is always welcome but the skiing at Gstaad is still excellent now.

This restaurant is now top of my list for the best Kaseschnitte (croute au fromage) in the area, I’m a connoisseur and I can highly recommend Restaurant Chübelialp. If you’re lucky you may get the same floor show we got from the chinless wonders on the next table who were a bit put out the menu wasn’t in English
The best bit was where they worked out “rind” was the German for bacon
