I’ve been meaning to go to Ovronnaz (pistemap) for ages and never actually been. It’s a small station in the Valais on the opposite side of the valley from Haute Nendaz situated high up above the vineyards. After about 10km of hairpins it feels pretty remote.

The weather started a little overcast and I was having some difficulty seeing with the flat light but it picked up and the skiing got easier. The skiing’s up and down through the tree line and really exceptionally good, one of the best runs being an unprepared black piste. The self service restuarant is pretty good as well and does a good plat du jour.

Probably near the top of any league table of good ski days are those with the element of the unlooked for or unexpected. We left the house late morning heading for the Relleri area at Gstaad but decided to go to Moléson instead as we drove past. The weather was really rather better than expected with broken clouds just adding to the mountain atmosphere.

The summit of Moléson dominates the local skyline and is around 2000m at the summit.

The run from the top is the only black run and it’s pretty impressive for a small station, they can’t get a piste basher onto most of the run so it’s closer to an itinerary really, steep and a slope that holds the snow very well.

The forecasted snow’s arrived today and when I arrived around at Saanenmöser this morning it was starting to snow fairly heavily.

So, not much of day for taking photo’s but a great day for skiing

As usual, not very busy and the car park was pretty empty when I returned to the car.

Another fine day, conditions remaining excellent with the cold temperatures keeping the snow in great condition.
