Château d’Oex

They run a pretty good offer at Château d’Oex, for 30 chf you get a return trip on the lifts and lunch at the top restaurant. Lunch is apparently whatever the plat du jour is but when we arrived we were offered anything on the menu. So after a Croûte we set off for a walk round the station.
Back in March there was a large avalanche in the area (2006 03 12 - Château-d’Oex) and you can still see some of the signs of it:
It’s a nice little station, I’m always surprised that some UK tour operators come here in the winter, it’s a nice village and a great ski area but areas with 30km or so are pretty common in Switzerland. We had a couple of fantastic days powder skiing back in March so I’m pretty keen on the area.
