After a couple of weeks of needing to visit Zinal we finally got time to take a walk locally at Charmey. It’s one of the local ski stations although I’ve only managed to ski there a couple of times this season ( 2006 03 14 - Charmey and 2006 02 19 - Charmey ).
There’s one great lift, the “Rapido Sky” from 887m to Vounetse at 1626m and the Restaurant des Dents-Vertes which does good Rösti and Croûte au fromage and, of course local white wines.
At the top there’s only three lifts, all drag lifts of course, a couple serve some short slopes near the summit while the other rides up from (I think) around 1200m.

Another trip to the Valais to make more arrangements for the chalet build in Zinal. We spent most of Friday in Sion and Sierre selecting fixtures and fittings like kitchens, bathrooms, tiles and a wood burner stove.

I just came across this link in my bookmarks after forgetting about it for a while. It’s a great movie and available in a few formats. It’s described as :
Think innovative and you can ski on the sand dunes in Egypt and even in the bottom of the Red Sea.
Two Finnish downhillskiers Ville Harilahti and Juha Marttila came up with a crazy idea for a different kind of ski video - and went on to make it happen. The result is unique film material where freestyle skiing takes place on the sand dunes of Sahara, on the surface of the Red Sea and even underwater, doing rails on shipwrecks! The video is called Destination Changed, referring to the plot: a freeski holiday destination unexpectedly changes due to an aeroplane mixup.
While looking around on the Super Star Collective web site I see there’s another movie called “The Game” which is well worth a look.

It would be nice if when I visit the
BBC radio player that the Blogger Web comments extension for Firefox didn’t show links to some silly blog with an offensive title. It’s not big and it’s not clever
