During the week we had thought of going to Les Diablerets to ski but the sudden warm weather has melted a lot of the snow that fell earlier in the week so we decided to go for a walk in the Col des Mosses area instead. We parked at the village of Les Mosses itself and headed to the Lac Lioson (above). In fact, this is pretty much the line the old cable car takes, I’ve no idea when this closed but it looks pretty old and there’s adverts for ski boots I’ve never heard of on the top lift station, I’m thinking of writing a book “There used to be a lift here - Walks in the Swiss Alpes” !

First thing this morning it was misty at home with signs the sun would break through, the local webcams seemed to confirm it might be a nice day. But, by the time we arrived at La Lecherette the cloud had rolled in and there was a light rain. The plan was to walk out of La Lecherette and climb up to the Monts Chevreuils. Monts Chevreuils is an abandoned ski station, the base is in Les Moulins on the Château-d’Œx/Bulle road. In fact it was part of the Château-d’Œx and on the same lift pass but not actually linked. It consisted of a single very long drag lift rising from 890m at Les Moulins to the summit of Monts Chevreuils at 1662m, the lift must have been quite a ride!

The top lifts of Château-d’Œx are visible in the above photograph on the far left side.

A short stroll around Schwarzsee and a popular day for photographers seeing the number of SLR’s people were carrying. Now I look at the photographs though I think the reflections are too perfect to the point of being unrealistic!
