Zinal - cabane du Petit Mountet

There’s not been any fresh snow in the ski area and it’s still a little busy so it’s not the best skiing conditions. So, we decided to take a hike up to cabane du Petit Mountet at 2142m which is up near the Zinal Glacier. It’s not actually open currently but it’s a good walk!

The snow cover is pretty thin really, it’s nice for a hike but skiing wouldn’t be too great. We did see some people climbing up on skis but it looked a lousy descent to me and I was glad I’d not bothered personally.

It was around here I realised that the hut was higher than I’d thought and we’d not actually made most of the ascent as I’d thought.
