As it was a nice sunny day I decided to go and take a look at the Cabane des Becs de Bosson, it’s situated between the Val d’Hérens, Val d’Anniviers and the Vallon de Réchy. I nearly didn’t make it as I couldn’t find my climbing skins but they turned up in another rucksack.

The route in starts from the top of the Lona 2 drag lift in Grimentz and traverses above the Lona black run.

Once you reach the ridge the cabane comes into sight and there’s some views over the valley with a few options for routes.

After a quick drink at the cabane I climbed the ridge behind the cabane, really just to get a look into the next valley. I’d thought about skiing down and climbing out again but decided against it in the end.

I’d no clear plan about which line to ski and in the end decide to take a few turns into the valley before climbing back to the Lona ridge to ski one of the gullies off the Lona ridge. The start looked scrappy but it settled into some steep turns in reasonable snow and I dropped back to the Lona drag lift quickly enough.
