dam run
27th January 2008
Today really seems to mark the run-up to peak season, there was a fair queue on the lift in Zinal when I met David and some of his friends. We’d talked about going to Grimentz and he’d suggested a run down the Chamois but I thought it was worth a look at the snow down to the Moiry barrage. The wind had scoured the top of snow which isn’t unusual and there was a crust on the upper section but middle section was pretty good snow and we all got some good turns in good snow.
In Grimentz we found the snow fairly variable, if you know where to look there’s some good pitces still but a lot is skied out and crusty. I had an idea to drop over the back of the Orxival but standing on the top in flat light it didn’t look so great so we found some other pitches around the ski area.
