SnowSlider - Blogging From the Snow by ise

This was the first day of the tour du Ciel a ski route from Zermatt. Even though it’s the 1st of May the night before it snowed and when I got up there was a few cm of snow on the ground in Zinal. The route for the day was pretty short so we met up in Zermatt at midday which I made easily from Zinal on the postbus and train. It also seemed about the first day for ages that we had some good weather.

This tour was led and organised by local guide Fredy Tscherrig.

It was a pretty easy skin up from Zermatt to the Schönbiel Hütte enjoying the views of the Matterhorn and the first time this season I’ve actually arrived at a hut and been able to sit outside and enjoy a drink in the sunshine.
