Snowdonia
9th September 2008
I’ve been in Snowdonia for a while doing some training and some personal hillwalking, this is a random collection of photo’s in between some fairly wild weather. These rather fantastic Welsh wild ponies were high up the Carneddau range, I’d climbed the beautiful Pen yr Ole Wen ridge from Idwal cottage. I’d climbed this in the winter years ago and recall how good it was so I wanted to go back and do it again.
Finding these ponies was just a bonus, they look so at home in the mountains and it’s great we’ve still got space for them to roam free like this.
The rest of the time we had some mixed weather, so bad that we ate lunch inside my emergency shelter one day in case anyone wonders what the inside of an emergency shelter looks like!

To be able to see wild ponies must have been incredible. Looks like the hind one is pregnant. Good to know they are still out there roaming the land.
