Tryfan, North Wales
8th June 2009
I’d got a new pair of boots (Scarpa Charmoz) as my old ones are beginning to wear a little in the lining and I was concerned they’d not last the summer. So, my plan was to park at Capel Curig and just have a stroll to see how the new boots fitted. But, once I’d got onto the Glyders the weather was so excellent and Tryfan looked so inviting that I thought I’d take the summit in and make a descent via the North Ridge.
Above left, some views of the Snowdon Horseshoe which I’d planned to do the next day.
It’s just great weather, last year in North Wales I managed a few days in good weather but nothing like as good as this!
There was a crowd of young people on the summit enjoying the end of their climb, it’s a great mountain for groups as there’s no way really easy way up and it’s a ‘proper’ mountain challenge, all the routes need some amount of scrambling and the groups had arrived from the north ridge which is an excellent scramble.
