Mont d’Or, Métabief, France

13th January 2010

A pretty deserted Mont d’Or! It’s part of the Métabief ski area just over the border in France. And yet again it’s escaped the low cloud we’re getting in the 3-lacs region.

Some great empty terrain on the red loipe “Les Tétras”.

   A french friend of mine went to meet some old school pals at Mont d’Or for skiing… but they had gone to le Mont Dore. Doh! Probably accounts for why the ski area is so empty.

   I’m sure the alpine skiing is perfectly decent in the area but the nordic skiing is quite exceptional, I’m back in the alps for a bit but back here for some nordic touring soon.
